EVANDER GRIIIM RELEASES A NEW GEM
Texas rapper, and creative, Evander Griiim (@evandergriiim) has dropped a gem for us this Friday via his latest single “Thotlanta”. Through Thotlanta it truly feels like Evander is attempting to send a message to whoever it may concern, essentially saying “we’re not the same, so act like it”. In this single, we hear Evander sounding as confident as ever while sporting a vocal tone that feels both commanding, as well as extremely present over the track’s production. Another aspect of this track that I fairly enjoyed was Evander’s delivery, subtly matching the energy laid out by the aforementioned production, going as smoothly, or as impassioned as necessary regarding flow pattern or vocal intensity. Through his tonal variations, Evander really cements the idea that this is a message coming from someone who is moving in a league directly above the rest of the competition. Finally, some love for the track’s production, taken on by Jproducedit (@jproducedit), Thotlanta’s production is fun, bounce driven, and subtle. I enjoyed the way that the production seems to directly inspire the vocal delivery, as well as flow patterns, allowing for some really creative moments from Evander himself. While Evander is by no means a new artist, he is definitely an emerging one, seemingly taking on a new direction, and this is most evident in the launching of his record label State of mind (@stateofmindlabel). Thotlanta is a new favorite and I cannot wait to see what direction he takes his career in next.
