UNDERGROUND ARTIST ROCSTARYOSHI SHINES ON “FORGIVE ME”
From time to time when the music scene dries up a little bit, I like to go through my soundcloud likes and rediscover a bunch of cool music. I’ve been doing a lot of that lately, and that’s made me realize that there’s a bunch of good music that’s older from artists that I haven’t gotten the chance to cover for whatever reason, so let me put you on to one of my underground favorites, rockstaryoshi (@rocstaryoshi). “forgive me” is definitely my favorite track from the artist, and even though it's not his latest, this track is a perfect showcase of everything that I feel makes rocstaryoshi such a good artist. I wanna start off by talking about this track’s production, which sounds absolutely stellar, thanks to its lush string instrumentation, and overall emotionally charged soundscape. Rocstaryoshi himself matches the energy by providing an equally emotionally charged vocal performance that is also especially catchy. He also makes sure his rapping is on point, delivering a few clever bars, as well as rapid flow that does the most in helping him convey a serious tone. This track’s a pretty cool one for a multitude of reasons, especially the way rocstaryoshi describes his new found success and even the way he describes substance abuse and the way it relates to coping from pain. Despite the success, rocstaryoshi still finds himself in the underground, thriving, but still pretty underground, so please go stream his music everywhere good music is found today.
