GET A LOAD OF THIS NEW SONG BY CONTRADASH

Internet creative Contradash(@contradash) has been on what I can only describe as an “extended album roll out,” as he gears up for the release of “Bandolier,” his forthcoming full length project that’s been in the works for quite some time now. Contradash himself has been pretty vocal on his instagram stories, as well as live streams where he discusses the project’s status, potential tracks on the project, and even what the cover art might look like. For the past few months we’ve received a stream of album related as well as unrelated tracks that might be a sort of filler for the sort of in-between moments we’re currently in. Anyway, late last month Contradash gave us his latest single “Get a load of this guy,” a track that plays into Dash’s alt-rock focused sound rather than the “digi-core” style that made him most popular, but it's not at all a bad thing.

“Get a load of this guy” sounds like an early 2010s alt rock song with a pop driver edge, and of course we get Contradash’s deep autotune washed tone that helps set his music apart as usual. Going into this track I was expecting a self-destructive vibe since Dash decided to put himself under the scope in the cover art for this song, but rather we hear him be more bitter and slightly vindictive on this one. As is common in his music, Contradash dedicates this song’s theme to a past lover who from the sound of it, he isn’t on the best of terms with. Contradash of course rips into this person, her character, and even her new relationship, but interestingly, despite the jabs he throws their way, he reveals himself as simply Jealous. Lines like “He's so cool from his coat to his jeans, like I wish that I was him, I wish I could be yours,” show us that Dash often plays it cool, but inside is mostly hurting. Check this song out today!
