KAYO IS HERE TO STAY AS HE DEBUT’S “it was fun while IT lasted”
Kayo has been an artist who has been on my radar for a while now and with his newest release, I sure hope he stays on yours. Coming out of Chicago, Kayo has been slowly and steadily solidifying his sound and position in not only the underground scene but the industry in general. He returns with his debut “It Was Fun While It Lasted” and it is such a beautiful debut with themes of time, feelings, ambition and pain. The project has a production style that feels like a great mix of Jcole, Smino, and old Kendrick, allowing the sound to be timeless yet unique. The biggest highlight of this project is the imagery & story telling that Kayo is able to deliver. With songs like “Hurt” “talk/loose ends”, he truly shines from the rest. With many projects, features are waiter very filler or very well used and this project hits the ladder. Overall, this is the biggest step forward Kayo could have and I am so happy for not only him, but his team as well.
