Let’s talk Jersey Club for a sec. If you’re reading this in 2023, you know that the Jersey club sound is currently the trendiest, and surprisingly on its way to becoming the most commercialized sound out there. You got artists like Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Coi Leray, and a handful of other artists successfully riding the wave and profiting in full, but the funniest thing is that none of those artists are all that dedicated to the Jersey club sound beyond its trendy nature. Now I’m not saying that once you try out a style you have to get married to it, but what I am saying is that most people only appreciate what’s on the surface, without diving any deeper, and that’s exactly what I wanna put you guys onto today. Let’s start out by talking a little bit about the artists who are fully putting on for the sound, in every way possible, artists like Skaiwater. The 22 year old known as Skwaiwater has been absolutely blowing up this year thanks to his the internet, who have absolutely championed his single “#miles,” which actually caught the attention of the rapper Lil Uzi Vert, who went on to hop on the remix (okay yes I lied a little, Uzi is the only mainstream artist putting on for Jersey Club, sue me). Skaiwater has grown so much over the last year that rapper Lil Nas X decided to bring them on the road for his MONTERO tour. Someone else that’s been blowing up thanks to the power of the internet is an artist by the name of Kanii who’s actually collaborated with Skaiwater in the past actually, and is seeing his big break as we speak all thanks to Tiktok and the magic of fan edits! See that’s the thing that makes the Jersey Club artists feel so underground, as you won’t hear them on the big stages, but you’ll surely hear them deep in the world of fan cams, fan edits, and especially on SoundCloud. I’m a really big fan of this new wave of melodic Jersey music, and I hope I could put you on to an artist or two!
