SMALL ARTIST SATURDAY: WHERE SHOULD YOUR MONEY GO?

SPENDING MONEY

One of the biggest complaints a lot of small artist have is “I don’t have the budget for this” or “I don’t know what to spend my money on” and those are valid points. There’s so many choices of where to spend your money and there’s also many outcomes each one can give you. While there are many options, we want to give you what in our eyes are the 3 essential lanes.

  1. Ads

  2. Content Creation

  3. Tools

ADS

This is very simple. Run. Ads.

Now running ads is a very complex task with a lot of variables but having a solid budget per release towards ads (Facebook, TikTok) will help push the release after it has dropped. While getting Pre-saves is cool and all, a pre save campaign will not be worth it on the ad end. Being able to show someone what they can listen to and let them immediately have access will allows them to not only discover the new music but also intive them to listen to your older music.

Content Creation

With social media being one of the best ways to create new listeners and expand your audience, you need to not only have engaging content, but consistent content as well. Putting some money towards photoshoots and video creation will allow you to share multiple types of content.

Tools

This is a very broad one but very helpful too. Tools can be anything small that can help enhance not only your music but content too. From a new mic to a hiring a video editor, these tools while not super critical, will never hurt to have. These should be your last options because while they do help, many people can create the same result with what they have and sometimes less. If you are looking for some extra tools, here are some great options

  • Media editor

  • High quality camera

  • Engineer
