While nostalgia is a main drive of the reason we still hear boombap/lofi today, it always seems to have a new fresh sound and take each time it’s represented. Phoenix King does exactly this on his latest project “SIMBAS’ SON 2”. The old yet lush production with a mix of trap drums and slower samples helps create an amazing journey throughout the project. With a short 5 song run, SIMBAS’ SON 2 really showcases what the king is all about and what he is capable of. With standout songs like “DaFuture”, “My Name” and “Shawty!”, this project is such a solid experience and truly an enjoyable listen
