HOW ARE SOUNDTRACKS EVOLVING?
Yesterday was my birthday so I treated myself to a little movie day. There’s a bunch of cool stuff at the theaters right now, but my brother convinced me to check out the new Spider-Man movie, “Spiderman: across the spider verse”. If you aren’t familiar with it, all you gotta know is that it's animated, and deals with more multiversal shenanigans as is the trend in Hollywood right now. Anyway, one of the biggest “cool factors” that the film offers is how well the animation style lends itself to its soundtrack, and just music in general. Even the first film of the series knew just how vital good music was for the film, and you can see an example of that by looking at the soundtrack’s biggest track, “Sunflower,” the collab between Swae lee and Post Malone, which surpassed Lil nas x’s Old town road, becoming the highest certified song ever! This time around, for the highly anticipated sequel, they tasked renowned producer Metro Boomin with the task of soundtrack curation and let me tell you, it’s great! The soundtrack feels like a project made with care, as Metro took his signature sound and created something that sounds cinematic, but grounded in reality. A perfect blend of both worlds is how I would describe it, and I'd even go on to say that the soundtrack almost feels like a sister album for his recently released, “heroes and villains,” featuring a lot of similar collaborators and sounds in the best way possible. So yeah, I just wanted to gush about the film and soundtrack real quick, and I definitely suggest that you go check out both in theaters, and all places where music is found.
