100 GECS COME WITH A GREAT RETURN, “10000 GECS”
Two weeks ago the hyperpop duo known as 100 Gecs (@100gecs) officially released their sophomore album entitled “10,000 Gecs” the direct follow up to their 2019 album, 1000 Gecs. It seems that the love for the duo and their often zany musical style remains as strong as ever, with reception for the project being extremely positive, and for the most part, met with praise and support. Now, If you’ve never caught a vibe for the 100 Gecs gang and don’t know where to start, I would definitely recommend 10,000 Gecs as a solid starting point, and I'll tell you why. The challenge with diving into 100 Gecs’ music as a new listener is that most people assume that the duo solely makes edm style music, while signing in a high pitched voice…and well yeah, they definitely do make that sorta stuff, however they make so much more music than that and this album mainly plays into their more “alternative” styles. 10,000 Gecs sees Dylan Brady and Laura Les put their own spin on music styles that were more popular in the early 2000’s like Rock-rap, Ska, and of course a little punk rock. This project will have you going “hey i recognize this!” and instantly turn it on its head in the most fun way possible. This is an album that doesn’t take itself too seriously, by people that don’t take themselves too seriously, and that’s what makes it such a good listen!
