SAFETY BY GREEK HAS ARRIVED
Those that know me well know that there are a select few artists that I keep on hand when I need something new to listen to. While my tastes are about as diverse as you can put it, there’s one artist that never fails to come through with something great, and that artist is named Greek (@idkgreek). What I love about Greek is that he’s sorta like a swiss army knife, I mean the guy does it all. From some of the smoothest R&B, Indie rock, and even the occasional hyperpop track, Greek really knows how to keep his audience on their toes, and his latest release, “Safety” is no exception. What can I say about Safety other than the fact that it's amazing? Everything from the beautiful instrumentation, (done by Greek himself) to the heavenly vocal performance, this track is something you can throw on, on a Sunday drive and really feel something. Thematically, Greek gives us what is essentially a love letter for a person that he cares for deeply, going to call them his “safety” or in other words, the person that keeps him grounded. Instrumentally, we get a slow jam, ballad-like approach that just makes you wanna hold someone tight, and just swing around as the smooth horns and jumpy drum track sway you away into a blissful dance. This track houses my favorite vocal performance from the artist, as not only does he deliver the message perfecty, but he absolutely kills it in every single detail no matter how small, I mean just listen to the insanely executed vocal harmonies that ring through the majority of the track, especially in the outro portion. While this isn’t necessarily new territory for Greek, it certainly is a sign that with every drop the artist just keeps getting better and better, and I’m loving the opportunity to witness his complete evolution unfold!
