GLAIVE’S “AS IF” SHOWS THE ARTIST GEARING UP FOR HIS PROJECT

Let’s talk Hyperpop. Tons of new music’s dropped in the genre this year, and I'm honestly very glad that the sound continues to survive and thrive, having not yet reached its definitive peak. Just last month, the young North Carolina artist, Glaive (@1glaive), released what I would consider to be one of my favorite tracks of the year so far with his single “as if,” in anticipation towards his next full length project, “i care so much, that i don’t care at all”. As if has been my favorite for a multitude of reasons, starting with the overall “hope in the hopeless” attitude that the song carries, not only from a writing standpoint, but even in the opening and closing audio samples. I just love that Glaive went with the timothee chalamet, prodigal son sample to open and close out the track to really drive home the “underdog looking for his place in the world” vibe. It seems like Glaive’s really been going through at least a bit from what it seems he’s trying to get across through the upcoming album and especially on the most recent singles that are riddled with combating doubt and other unfortunate aspects which most creatives deal with on a day to day basis. Glaive’s young and probably feels like he has huge shoes to fill, so It wouldn’t come as a surprise if his main goal with this roll out is just proving himself worthy of the spotlight. So yeah, if you’re a fan of an optimistic message, and guitar pop production, this might be the track for you, go give it a spin today!
