KMOE DELIVERS WITH NEWEST SINGLE “BLISTERS”
By: IJR (@only.ijr)
Within the past three years, one of my favorite emerging genres has definitely been hyperpop. Originating from the PC music movement, it's truly been a wild ride getting to see the genre evolve, and grow into what it is today, as more and more of its top artists break into the mainstream music culture. One of my favorite things about the genre has been the boldness that the artists seem to possess, and one great example of that is their willingness to incorporate elements from other genres into their craft. There are a number of artists that come to mind when it comes to genre-fusing but rarely do any come close to the efforts of Seventeen-year-old hyperpop sensation Kmoe (@kmoethekid).
Through his latest single ”‘blisters,” Kmoe brings a ballad like pop song and really packs in a punch when you’re least expecting it. “Blisters” begins with a mellow guitar pattern followed by Kmoe’s gloomy sound vocals delivering a narrative about a past love interest and regrets he experiences about the relationship. Although Kmoe’s delivery is a sad sounding one, he still manages to make it sound comforting at the same time in a way, especially through the song’s chorus about the world still spinning despite the troubles. Around the halfway point we get the track’s turning point as the somber ballad becomes a loud, grungy rock ballad, complete with distorted guitar, heavy drums, and the exact energy we’ve come to expect from the young artist.
Kmoe continues to prove to everyone that he truly deserves the spot he’s acquired for himself, serving as his own producer, engineer, writer, and even art director, its obvious to see why the mainstream is now starting to put on for the young creative. Kmoe is set to perform alongside acts like Young thug and Don Toliver this summer for the “Fvded in the park” music festival, and to me that serves as a testament that hyperpop can longer be regarded as an “underground genre” and its all thanks to artists like kmoe.
