Back like he never left, Arizona native, Tuxx (@1tuxx) returns with a brand new track titled “watch me,” a strongly melodic tune that sees him return to a trap sound that is most familiar to him. If you’ve been keeping up with the former Internet Money artist, you know that for the better part of this year his sound had taken an evolution into the world of rock music, so his return to the sound that initially popularized him is truly a welcome surprise.
On “Watch me”. Tuxx lets his intentions be known from the jump, as we are instantly met by the track’s ominous-sounding production, expertly crafted by frequent collaborator Baker beats, and Naawoj. Perfectly matching the tone set out by the track’s production, Tuxx delivers the track’s opening bars which equally provide a menacing tone, complemented by competitive lyrics that we can presume are aimed at Tuxx’s contemporaries. As usual, Tuxx keeps the energy strictly melodic, but don’t let that description fool you as the multiskilled artist delivers an unusually aggressive flow, and vocal performance unlike any that we have typically have come to expect from his catalog, sounding familiar to a classic flow once mastered by Lil uzi vert. As the song progresses, we experience the production become more and more aggressive as well, almost as if to match up with the level of intensity set up by Tuxx’s flow quality, and competitive nature. Tuxx gives us extremely quotable lines like “every time I go shopping, they close down the store cuz I could just buy all of it” delivered in an extremely epic manner, along with dramatic silence from the track's production, only to drop back in with the most energy you could have asked for.
Through this new release, we get a pleasant return to form from Tuxx, giving the fans that have stuck by his side since the beginning a track in the style that they first fell in love with. With his rockstar rebrand in the past year, fans of the artist have found themselves curiously wondering if the artist was completely over rap music, and it’s nice to see that fans have finally received their answer in the form of this track!
