REEFUH STEALS THE SHOW WITH “lieutenant”
If you know me, you know that reefuh recently has been one of my favorite artists and is constantly in rotation. The thing that makes reefuh stand out from his contemporaries is his delivery. He seemingly has this talent to control each syllable within every word and can give a different inflection with every syllable, which is incredibly impressive. Almost like a natural autotune, but for different cadences. I started really following each release since “the prezi”, an anthemic and fun track that really shows reefuh’s talent within his delivery and production. When he announced the new single, of course I was excited, and he did not disappoint. “lieutenant” doubles down on reefuh’s talent of being a producer and vocalist. The song samples “Rapid As Wildfires” by OnyxDunes, and reefuh places modern drums in his own style over this natural, almost OST song, creating a nice contrast between the melody and drums. The rattling hi-hats with the unique 808s and basses really sets the production on another level. The pockets reefuh enters with his flows and deliveries is nothing short than fun, and just reassures me that reefuh should be part of more discussions when talking about underrated artists.
