SMALL ARTIST SATURDAY: HOLD OR RELEASE MUSIC BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR?

As we approach the end of the year, there are two major lanes you can choose to take. Realize music or wait till the new year. With the music industry basically shutting down for the next couple months, both sides have pros and cons, so let’s jump into it

Wait

With only a month and a half left of 2022, waiting on releasing music can help you not only perform better next year, but also relieve stress in the long run. Taking off November and December, allows you to schedule your uploads and take the time to create a solid schedule of not only musical releases, but also plan out social media posts and take these next months to create the content you need going into the new year. This doesn’t mean you can’t keep making music during these months, but your priority will be setting yourself up for success in 2023. My suggestions would be to focus on

  1. Scheduling release

  2. Visuals for release

  3. Social media content

Releasing music

With most major releases out of the way, your competition is fairly low but you will now be competing with a different thing, the holidays. With these major holidays, there is always a vibe surrounding the season that when you do release, it may not stick the way you want. Would you release a Christmas song in august? No. Why? Cause it doesn’t fit the vibe. While I’m not discouraging you to release, just realize it will require a deeper look into the type of music you are planning on dropping and the time of the month you plan on dropping. If you do plan to release music, here are the 3 things to look into and plan for.

  1. Holidays

  2. Visuals

  3. Use these releases as a step into the new year
